When to Move Up a Bike Size
Featured
A larger wheel size is not automatically a better bike. Move up only when the current bike limits safe posture or control and the next size fits now.
Signs the current bike may be too small
- The knees rise unusually high or contact the handlebar.
- The seat is at its safe maximum and the leg remains excessively bent.
- The rider looks cramped while steering.
Do not size up early
A bike that is too large can make starting, stopping and emergency control difficult. Do not buy a bike for a child to “grow into” if the published minimum height or inseam is above the child's current measurement.
Recheck before ordering
Measure height and inseam again, compare the exact product's fit information and check how the child reaches the ground and brakes. If the delivered size is unsuitable, stop riding and review the return and exchange policy before assembly or outdoor use.
